A new year inspires life-changing decisions and actions. I however, am sticking with a continuity plan. 

New year, same me.

I had seriously underestimated the pressure a new year brings. The itchy feeling to be better, to make actionable goals and plans which end up falling short of expectations because life, and leaving one worse off than at the beginning of the year.

In the year 2017, I made those sort of goals. I still remember it as one of my worst years ever. I fell sick a lot and hit big lows so in 2018, I decided to be kinder to myself. 

I set personal growth goals focused on my physical and mental health that involved taking better care of myself and taking a more active approach to life by leaving my tiny cocoon. These sort of goals, I’ve realized, don’t put pressure on one, relatively speaking that is. So I basically took life as it came and worked steadily on my long term goals.

After one of my instafam commented on the continuity concept, I’ve decided that’s the way forward: Keep on working steadily on your long term goals. If you want to change an aspect of your life immediately then change it. No pressure.

In conclusion, the only thing I plan on changing is my wardrobe. Out with the old, in with the new. In line with my semi-minimalist lifestyle, as new pieces come in, old pieces go out. I’m bored with my current wardrobe but I don’t like amassing clothing. Been there, never going that route again.

Now I know this isn’t what our foremothers died for but feminism has become a joke. Not due to any fault of the concept in itself, but due to a lack of knowledge of its very values.

The constant question on our minds as we sail through this journey called life.

Live in the now, they say. Every moment is precious- I know this, you know this, we all know this. Man is generally bad at taking his own advice. Hence, Chronophobia. The fear of the future. 

The fear of what comes next.

What will be will be. What will be however, depends on the actions and the decisions we make now and that’s where the fear stems from. A desire to not mess tomorrow up, a desire to make tomorrow better than today.

There’s also the thing with passing phases, the anxiety that comes with moving from one stage to another. Staying in one particular phase or stage breeds comfort and since humans detest change even though we adapt, we experience a great discomfort at the thought of something different.

The key is  to turn anxiety towards a change of phase into something more positive. Instead of dreading the event of change, look forward to what ever lays ahead as a challenge but one has to limit oneself from overthinking.

“We’ll cross that bridge when we get there.” 

I’m a planner and we planners absolutely despise that saying, don’t we? It’s a good policy though- focus on making today good before trying to make tomorrow better. Focusing on the future is an endless cycle that leaves one thoroughly dissatisfied.

And what happens when you try to recall moments of the past and all you can remember are your achievements?

Independence, short form indie.

I made 6 basic resolutions and then a few, more specific goals. Before we delve in, check out the original post.

1. I’ve not been eating a lot of fruits, vegetables have indeed taken over. Since I wanted to eat more fruits in a bid to eat healthier I would say I achieved this goal.

2. I’ve definitely been waking earlier. My goal was 4am but I’ve been waking up mostly by 4:30am - 5:30am so I can check this off the list.

3. I don’t think exercise was made for me. I’ve never been so inconsistent with anything like exercising, including this blog! I’ll try harder though.

4. I’ve persevered for the first half of this year and I stayed true to myself. I’ve stayed on course, done what I’ve wanted to do and I couldn’t be happier.

5. I haven’t been able to work on my outwards appearance which apparently scares people off. May be next year? I’m still happy on the inside though.

6. I’ve been giving more. This is actually the one thing I’ve been consistent with.

As for the rest of my goals, I’ve finally figured what I want to do and this was my major goal for the year. As for doing more blog post collaborations, that’s been proving difficult due to a very busy schedule.

Stay Creative, Cheers!

Have you ever had that awkward moment when you had to pose for a photograph while sitting and you had no idea what to do with your hands? Or legs?

You know how you know exactly what to do when you're standing? You slay and serve them looks and as soon a someone's suggests sitting and you get down it's just like "what on earth am I supposed to do now?"

Well, firstly, I'd recommend turning to the side, just a little bit. 

Almost anything you do in this pose will seem more natural. Tilting your head upwards (just a bit, quite unlike my pose in the picture) always goes well with this pose.

Then play with your hands. 

If you're not holding anything, playing with your hands offers poses that could be sexy, natural, happy or artsy. Put your hand in your hair or on the side of your face lightly brushing your skin. You could also put your hands in your laps, this makes for an elegant pose.

Lean forward.

This could be done in conjunction with playing with your hands and they do combine quite nicely.

If you're sitting low enough, do the baddie leg pose.

That is, do the "woman spread" (that's what they're calling it these days) and play with leg poses. Stretch one leg out while the other remains in place.

Now, combine both.

Pose with both your hands and legs but remember, do not be too extra as this makes things look forced.

In the end, just do whatever you feel like, what ever suits you. It's just a picture and there's be other opportunities to slay, yes?
