What We Wore: Dashiki Dresses (with Tonye Igbani)

14:38

Hi guys!

So this collaboration has been a long time coming.

The location, timing and theme changed so often so I want to say a special thank you to Tonye for her patience. That statement was a subtle way of saying the delay was (mostly) my fault. Ha ha.

The theme was African inspired and Dashiki was the chosen medium.

I didn't even know what to wear, just threw on the dress, dark lipstick, nude heels, arm cuffs and called it a day.

Tonye, on the other hand, dressed her dashiki up with jewellery, the awesome hair, beautiful purple mules and looks every bit the epitome of the modern African woman.

That wasn't flattery, honest : D

I had a lot of fun, Tonye is such a happy person.

Pin me pretty please?

To be honest, the struggle was real with this theme but I accepted it as a challenge because I hardly have anything African inspired except from some beaded necklaces I bought back in 2013.

A lot of pictures, I know but I love all of them.

How do you wear your dashiki?

Leave a comment, I'd love to hear from you!

  9. One thing I miss about living in the Philippines is the abundance of wonderful textiles for cheap. I am SO in love with the bold prints and vibrant colors on your dashikis. They look amazing and you ladies ROCKED it.
